Case Study: Harland & Wolff

www.harland-wolff.com

The Famous and historic shipyard, established in 1861, that worked on possibly one of the most famous ships in history, The Titanic.

WEBSITE REQUIREMENTS

This PLC company was looking to bring it's historic shipyard into the 21st century. They required real attention to detail and a dynamic approach to their new website that would incorporate their new brand identity and compete with other modern shipyards.

The main goal was to create a modern website design that would speak true to their heritage and prestigious brand.

THE SOLUTION: WEB DESIGN

The main concept was to use strong, flat colours, bold fonts and vibrant imagery that would help to give the site real gravitas. It was important to keep the design very clean but also engaging; utilising good space and adding subtle animations and movement only where required or for a more modern impact.

THE SOLUTION: ANIMATION

Subtle, custom animations were added throughout the site to add a dynamic and modern feel, whilst not being over bearing or detracting from the purpose of the site and brand. One such example was to animate the famous Harland & Wolff crane logo, by clicking the mobile burger menu the 3 lines transition smoothly into their logo, which the client was over the moon with.

THE RESULT

The end result of the website is one that has held it's own for over 5 years now with minimal changes, only additions being made. The design and build spoke true to their brand and being a PLC company it was approved by several boards and managerial figures.
